Journal of Cereal Research (JCR ISSN :  2582-2675) serves as an official organ of the Society for Advancement of Wheat and Barley Research (SAWBAR) for the publication of reviews, research papers, short communications on different cereal crops as per Article 14.1 of the constitution and by-laws of the society. The Journal is sent free of charge to its life members.

Aim & Scope

The focus of Journal of Cereal Research (JCR) internationally covers all the major disciplines of plant breeding, agronomy, pathology, biotechnology, quality, and basic sciences etc. of cereal crops.

Following types of articles are considered for publication on meeting the style and requirements of the journal:

Articles on original research, not exceeding 4000 words (up to 15 typed pages, including references, Tables, etc. ) should be exclusive for the journal.  Short research notes, not more than 1300 words (total 5 typed pages), which deal with (i) research results that are complete but do not warrant comprehensive treatment, (ii) description of new materials or improved techniques or equipment, with supporting data. and (iii) a part of the thesis or study. Such notes require no headed sections. Critical research review articles, showing lacunae in research and suggesting possible lines of future work. These are mostly invited from eminent scientists. The research article or note submitted for publication should have a direct bearing on cereal research or open up new grounds for productive research. The basic type of articles and notes relating to the investigation in a narrowly specialized branch of cereals may also be considered for publication in the journal.

Journal History: The JCR (erstwhile JWR) was started in 2007 and since then biannual issues are published covering different areas of wheat and barley research globally. In 2019, the journal was renamed as Journal of Cereal Research (JCR) covering articles from cereal crops and is started publishing three issues in a  year, covering different research themes articles of cereal research.

Results returned by the software may be used as a criterion for the analysis of the manuscript by the editorial board and may eventually result in a rejection due to plagiarism, duplicate and superfluous publication.

Ethics And Malpractice Statement

The editorial board of the Journal of Cereal Research (JCR) (earlier known as Journal of Wheat Research or Wheat and Barley Research) follows ethics norms accepted by the international scientific community and makes every endeavor to prevent any infringements of the norms.

Duties of Editors

All submitted papers are subject to a strict peer-review process by national/international reviewers that are experts in the area of the particular paper. The factors that are taken into account in a review are relevance, soundness, significance, originality, readability, and language. The possible decisions include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection. If authors are encouraged to revise and resubmit a submission, there is no guarantee that the revised submission will be accepted. Rejected articles will not be re-reviewed. Articles may be rejected without review if they are obviously not suitable for publication. The paper acceptance is constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. When a conflict of interests arising, all the participants of the reviewing process should inform the editorial board. All the contentions questions are considered in the board meeting. The accepted papers are allocated in open access on the journal site; copyrights reserved.

Duties of Reviewers

The reviewers evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors. The staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate. Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments. Peer review assists the publisher in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the experts from the scientific board and the author may assist the author in improving the paper. Manuscripts received for review are treated as confidential documents and are reviewed by anonymous staff. A reviewer should also call to the publisher’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Duties of Authors

Authors of contributions and studies research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance.A paper should contain sufficient details and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.The authors should ensure that they have written entirely review works if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been obligatory and appropriately cited or quoted.Submitting the same manuscript to more than one publication concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.Sources of financial support for the reported results can be specified.
