Dr. Vishnu Kumar is presently working as Associate Prof., Genetics & Plant Breeding at Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi. He completed his PhD (Plant Breeding & Genetics) from Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur with ICAR-Senior Research Fellowship and was also awarded with Gold Medal. Dr. Kumar secured first rank in Agriculture Research Services (ARS) during 2009 in plant breeding discipline and subsequently joined ARS services on 1st September 2010 at ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad. He worked since Jan. 2011 to Aug. 2019 as Scientist and Scientist (Sr. Scale) at ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal. His area of specialization is genetic enhancement of barley, wheat and millets for quality traits coupled with grain yield improvement and abiotic stress resistance. He has contributed in the development of 06 barley varieties and also registered 14 genetic stocks for different unique traits i.e. grain quality, cereal rust, agro-botanic etc. He has published more than 40 research papers in referred journals. He is NAAS Associate, Fellow of ISGPB, Delhi and SAWBAR, Karnal. Dr. Kumar has several awards and recognitions to his credit.
