Sendhil R, Scientist working for the ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research has made commendable contributions in setting research priorities and policies for food and livelihood security of wheat and barley producers. He Graduated with Merit Scholarship from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore; Post-Graduated in Agricultural Economics from Sri Venkateswara Agricultural College, Tirupati with a University Gold Medal and completed Doctorate from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. Sendhil has over five years of R&D experience in wheat and barley research, collaborating with national & international organisations and grassroots level agencies facilitating and leading a large number of interventions on technology transfer & assessment, socio-economics program, and policy influence.
His professional achievements offer a unique blend of socio-economics research expertise coupled with environmental issues, and competence in formulating policy frameworks and pathways for increasing the farmers’ income and welfare. He has developed excel based technology assessment calculator, methodological approach for yield gap assessment and tracking wheat yield sensitivity which received wide appreciation. Sendhil has published around 35 research papers in peer reviewed national and international journals, and honored with several recognitions, including NFP grant, AAEA Award, Dr.RT Joshi award, IARI Fellowship and ICAR-JRF. He strives for excellence in his research interest on technology policy, climate change issues and emerging challenges in wheat and barley production.
