Cereals are the most important plants in the world that play an important role in human and animal nutrition. The highest area of ​​crop cultivation in the world is related to cereals such as wheat, rice and maize, which have recently been reduced due to salinity of water and soil resources and/or water defifict. However, world food security depends on cereals production, so we must look for ways to increase grain production in saline and dry conditions and thus provide food security to the growing world population. Much research has been done on cereals salinity and drought tolerance for a long time, and many tolerant varieties have been released, however many aspects are still unknown and require further evaluation. In this special issue, we seek the latest findings on salinity and drought tolerance mechanisms and strategies to increase grain production.
