Special Issue on “New Frontiers in Cereal Seed Research”

About  the Research Topic

Seed is one of the most essential agricultural inputs and is vital to sustainable crop production and food security. The performance of all agricultural inputs directly or indirectly depends on the quality of the seed. Seed quality can be enhanced through various physical, physiological and biological ways to alleviate germination constraints leading to uniform crop stands and improved yields. The recent advances in the field of cereal seed research include new techniques of seed improvement such as physiological (seed priming, coating, and pelleting), physical (magnetic, radiation and plasma) and biological (seed enhancements). A wider understanding of different aspects of modern seed technology will not only improve the seed quality but will also lead to better seed security of any region. With this perspective, the Journal of Cereal Research has framed a special issue on the topic “New Frontiers in Cereal Seed Research” targeting specifically cereal crops (wheat, rice, maize, rye, barley, oat, millets, sorghum, and triticale).

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited pertaining to the theme of the issue. Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed and a first decision will be provided to authors within one month after submission.
